Being new to Second Life I had not ventured away from ESC's virtual campus until now and I found it very interesting to see so many universities virtual world campuses. Because my learning and teaching is in Art Education I focused my attention towards the campuses museums and art galleries and was pleasantly surprised. The detail and clarity was more than I had expected. However, unlike other virtual museums I have seen in the past (and needless to say, within real life museums) I could not locate descriptions of the artwork, let alone the artist names anywhere.
Admittedly this could be me and my newborn abilities to navigate and function in SL, but despite where I looked and the numerous locations I visited I could not find them. For an art teacher interested in using SL in her classroom this could pose as an extreme dilemma.
However, if these SL museums and art galleries were to provide the necessary information (or if I could find it as the case may be) I could see where creating "Art Hunts" within SL could be a very educational and fun experience for students.
